Our review methodology is consistent, documented, and independent of the commercial relationships that fund this site.
Our approach
Every product listed on BritWagerDesk is assessed by our editorial team using a structured framework covering six criteria. Scores are assigned on a ten-point scale and represent our team's assessment of each product at the time of review. They do not represent official ratings, regulatory assessments, or guarantees of any kind.
We review products based on direct use of the site or app, reading publicly available terms and conditions, and assessing the user experience across different device types. We do not use automated scoring tools.
What we assess
Market coverage
High weightWe assess the range of sports, competitions, and bet types available. This includes football, horse racing, tennis, and other major sports, as well as the availability of pre-match and in-play markets. Depth within each sport is considered alongside breadth.
Odds presentation
High weightHow clearly odds are displayed across desktop and mobile, whether switching between formats (fractional, decimal) is straightforward, and whether live odds update reliably during in-play events.
Mobile usability
High weightThe quality of the mobile browser experience and any dedicated apps — including navigation speed, bet slip functionality, and how well the interface handles time-sensitive in-play selections.
Terms transparency
Medium weightWhether promotion terms, minimum odds, wagering requirements, withdrawal conditions, and account rules are clearly stated and easy to locate without excessive navigation.
Responsible gambling tools
Medium weightThe visibility and accessibility of self-exclusion, deposit limits, reality checks, session reminders, and links to external support resources including GAMSTOP and GamCare.
Payment options
Lower weightThe range of deposit and withdrawal methods available to UK users, including UK debit cards, e-wallets, and bank transfer, with any noted processing timescales.
How scores are calculated
Each product is scored out of 10.0. The score reflects a weighted average across the six criteria above, with market coverage, odds presentation, and mobile usability carrying the highest weight. Scores are rounded to one decimal place. Scores in the range 8.0–10.0 represent products our team considers to perform well across most criteria. Scores in the range 6.0–7.9 represent products with clear strengths alongside identifiable gaps.
We do not give a score of 10.0, as no product we have reviewed is without any area for improvement. Scores are not designed to create a definitive league table — they are editorial indicators that should be read alongside the full written review.
Review frequency
Products are reviewed on an ongoing basis. When a product changes significantly — for example by altering its terms, adding or removing major features, or updating responsible gambling tools — we update the relevant review. The date of the most recent review is noted in each product's assessment.
Editorial independence
BritWagerDesk earns affiliate commissions from the operators it lists. This is disclosed clearly throughout the site and in our Affiliate Disclosure. These commercial arrangements do not influence our editorial scores or review content. We do not accept payment for score adjustments, positive review content, or featured placement. An operator offering a higher commission rate does not receive a better score as a result.
What our reviews do not cover
Our reviews are based on publicly available information and general user experience testing. They do not constitute legal advice, financial advice, or any form of guarantee about a product's performance or reliability. We cannot verify claims made by operators about bonus terms, odds, or payout rates. Users should read operator terms directly and form their own judgements.
